New Melt Bar and Grilled Concept Opening at Case Western Reserve
Acclaimed restaurant proprietor Matt Fish is opening a new quick service Melt Bar and Grilled concept tentatively called “Melt University”. The Melt spin-off will open at the new Tinkham Veale University Center at Case Western Reserve, his first establishment on a college campus. The quick-service sandwich shop is now under construction and will open at the end of August.
“We are focusing on quick service for both lunch and dinner without losing the Melt experience,” said Fish. Guests can expect to see 8-10 signature Melt gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches on the menu, with an exclusive Case Western themed sandwich only available at the new “Melt University” location. Along with the signature sandwiches, students and patrons can look forward to Melt’s famous roasted garlic tomato soup, the classic grilled cheese companion, and two specialty salads.
The Melt University location at Case will be operated in partnership with Bon Appétit Management Company, Case’s food service provider since 2006. “We at Bon Appétit are thrilled to be working with Matt Fish and Melt,” said Jim O’Brien, Bon Appétit’s resident district manager at Case. “It’s a local favorite, it’s fresh, and now it’s a part of Case’s dynamic campus dining scene.”
Melt’s fresh, foodie fare will inhabit on the ground floor of the new university center – the 82,000 square-foot structure is currently under construction, a $50 million project that began in the summer of 2012. Upon its completion in August, the building will house more than 160 student organizations, a restaurant and ballroom, 5 retail food concepts, and will serve as the core of the Case campus.
“The new Tinkham Veale University Center will stand as an exciting crossroads of the Case student experience,” said Dick Jamieson, vice president of campus services (which oversees dining at Case). “We were committed to introducing a new and innovative concept to campus dining, so it reflected the character of this vibrant new space.”
The new “Melt University” location at Case Western Reserve will be open to students and the general public 7 days a week for Lunch & Dinner. Established hours of operation will be established in the late summer.
