Great Moments in Melt History – “Melt Gets to the Point – Cedar Point.”
People meet online. So do businesses.
“We had just opened the Melt Public Square location,” says Matt Fish, owner and founder of Melt. “Cedar Point follows Melt on Twitter and we follow Cedar Point. They tweeted congratulations to us and joked about a location coming to Cedar Point. We took the comment seriously and asked, “When?” Next thing you know we are having a conversation with them and taking a tour of Cedar Point to look at potential locations. The lease was signed in January 2017 and construction on the space started immediately after.”
“A huge amount of work was put in to renovate the space,” says Fish. “Basically, the location was gutted and rebuilt to our specifications with new walls, floor, ceiling, storefront, host area, bar area, patio and kitchen – all parts of the project that needed to be done so we could operate as a full-service Melt Bar and Grilled.”
Unlike other Melt locations, which are a destination, Melt Cedar Point is inside the destination. That means that the menu needed some modifications. “The menu at Melt Cedar Point is built from our main menu and is slightly smaller since some food items do not translate to an amusement park setting,” says Fish. “We did learn that burgers sell extremely well at Cedar Point so we added a few signature burgers to the menu and added a new exclusive sandwich to the menu called the Chicken Vengeance Western Club. This sandwich is exclusive to the Melt Cedar Point menu for the 2018 season.”

“The idea of the Chicken Vengeance Western Club came about from several conversations with Cedar Point management during the offseason. We wanted to take advantage of the excitement for the new coaster by creating an exclusive sandwich in honor of it; a sandwich that would be delicious, would be popular, and would work with the western theme. I think we accomplished all three!”
One of the most amazing features of Melt Cedar Point are the historical and vintage Cedar Point decorations. “Cedar Point has a huge warehouse of archive items that they let me go through,” says Fish, “and I had the opportunity to blow dust off items that have not seen the light of day for years or possibly decades! Cedar Point management let me hand pick all the items on display. They still own each piece of memorabilia but having them all on display in one location is amazing. Melt Cedar Point has become a museum of old signs, advertisements and marketing items that span the entire history of the park from the late 1800s to now.”
Melt Cedar Point is located in Sandusky, Ohio, near Planet Snoopy on the Midway.
