Great Moments in Melt History – “What Does Halloween Taste Like? Voodoo Zombie Jerk Chicken.”
A zombie, a jerk and a chicken walk into a bar…
No, that’s not it.
A Voodoo Zombie Jerk Chicken walks into a bar. Still not right, but closer.
“Bad jokes aside,” says Matt Fish, owner and founder of Melt Bar and Grilled, “the Voodoo Zombie Jerk Chicken Melt was first introduced in October 2016. We wanted to develop a sandwich fitting the season that also had some very unique and fun flavors. The inspiration was a mix of Cajun, Caribbean and Halloween flavors and spirit. I think we nailed it.”
The secret behind the sandwich is the special Zombie Dust seasoning. Literally. “The recipe is a secret!” says Fish. “What I can say is it is a blend of quite a few dried spices and peppers. It’s got an addicting flavor that honestly tastes great on everything. We liberally sprinkle the dust on the sandwich, fries and chips. Truthfully, it can be sprinkled on everything!”
“Um, no,” says Fish. “But we can sprinkle it on the vegetarian and vegan versions of the sandwich. We just swap out the chicken and cheese for our awesome vegan substitutes. This is by far one of my favorite vegan sandwiches of all time!”
And which beer pairs best with the Voodoo Zombie Jerk Chicken Melt? Nosferatu? Zombie Dust? Dead Guy Ale?
“A nice IPA goes great with this sandwich,” says Fish. “The spicy flavors need a beer with some substance. There is a decent spice component so a lighter lager or Kolsch would be a great suggestion too.”
So this Halloween season, grab a Voodoo Zombie Jerk Chicken Melt and scare up a good time with friends and family.
Or watch some creepy horror flicks or slasher films… That’s cool too.
